On 27 September 2025, 64 participants, including colleagues, customers, suppliers and guests, took to their bikes for the very first edition of the Gpi 100: a beautiful 100-kilometre cycling tour connecting four Gpi locations. For those who preferred a shorter distance, a 60-kilometre route visiting three sites was also available.
The day started at 8:00 a.m. at Gpi Tanks in Lopik, where Gpi colleagues welcomed the participants and handed out a Gpi cycling jersey and water bottle. After a cup of coffee, a short speech and a group photo, the cyclists set off for their ride.
First stop
Volunteers were ready at each location to make sure everything ran smoothly. The first stop was Gpi De Gouwe in Gouda, where the cyclists were welcomed with coffee and apple pie. They also enjoyed guided tours of the production hall, where colleagues enthusiastically explained the projects and daily work taking place there. It was also here that the first – and luckily only – flat tyre of the day was repaired.
Second location
After this first break, the route continued via the Bergambacht ferry to Groot-Ammers, where the participants took a short break and visited the Gpi Tanks production hall. Here they learned how the large stainless-steel tanks are built. Meanwhile, the Gpi support van kept a close eye on the group throughout the ride.
The final stretch
The 60-kilometre group returned to Lopik via the Ameide ferry, while those cycling the full 100 kilometres had one last stretch to go. They continued to Gpi Tanks XL in IJsselstein, where they could refuel, have a drink and learn more about the large-scale projects carried out at this site.
Crossing the finish line
The event concluded back in Lopik, where it had all started. Participants were greeted with an official Gpi medal, a well-deserved lunch, and a guided tour through the production hall.
We look back on a successful first edition of The 100 of Gpi. We’re already looking forward to the second edition in 2026!
