Fons Geurts rents a production hall in Lopik, hires an employee, and gets to work. This is how Gpi Tanks started in 1994, as GPI (Geurts Process Installations). Gpi starts out in the food industry and produces stainless-steel tanks in various shapes and sizes. From the start, it's customer-oriented company that distinguishes itself on service, quality, and short delivery times.
As our first premises become too small, we rent the neighboring building. This way, we organically expand to more locations. By the turn of the century, Gpi has around 45 permanent employees. It's a company with a flat organizational structure. The company's floor space has grown to approximately 10,000 m2, and customers are mainly located in the Benelux region. The tanks we produce range in size from 5 to 400,000 liters. We provide customized solutions and still manage the entire process in-house, from design and production to delivery and service.
Gpi adjusts the company's structure, resulting in the formation of Gpi Group. Beitserij Midden Nederland (BMN) becomes the first independent operating company in addition to the existing Gpi organisation.
A new 17-meter-high production hall is being built in Lopik.
Starting out as a Foreman in 1996, Fred Boere climbs the corporate ladder and ultimately becomes CEO in 2009.
Arno Rodenburg started out as a Welder in 1998. Then he became Foreman/Workshop Supervisor, Production Manager, and Operational Technical Director. In 2012, Arno becomes co-owner and shareholder.
Gpi Tanks had employed quite a few Polish sheet-metal workers and welders for over ten years when the decision was made to not relocate all these skilled workers to the Netherlands, but to open up a production location in Brzeg, Poland.
Since 2016, we have been operating from a new office in Lopik, adjacent to the production halls. We employ approximately 90 people.
By the end of 2018, we are employing 170 people. Founder Fons Geurts leaves the board but remains involved as a shareholder. From now on, the management team consists of Fred Boere (CEO) and Arno Rodenburg (COO).
Gpi Tanks and Gpi Process Equipment become separately operating companies. At the end of 2018, Gpi acquires Altermij-De Gouwe, which was founded in 1946, and is now an experienced party in manufacturing processing equipment. This acquisition results in Gpi De Gouwe Process Equipment.
We launch Gpi Tanks XL to fully focus on on-site tank construction projects. The office is located in IJsselstein.
Land has been purchased and a large, modern factory with the latest equipment has been built in Skarbimierz. Gpi Poland operates fully independently with its own sales, engineering, and production.
Gpi Group founds Gpi Pharma, a new business unit that focuses entirely on the sales and production of pharmaceutical tanks.
Gpi opens an office in Bengaluru in India to support the engineering and work preparation departments in the Netherlands and Poland. Additionally, Gpi India provides support to the IT department in the Netherlands.
Starting from January 1, 2022, Fred Boere and Arno Rodenburg serve as co-CEOs of the Gpi Group. The co-CEO arrangement enables them to provide agile and pragmatic leadership to a rapidly expanding team with multiple locations.
We employ over 300 people in our offices and production locations in the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, and India.
We are an industry-leading tank-construction company, specialised in. the engineering, production, and installation of processing equipment and custom stainless-steel processing and storage tanks up to 10,000 m3.
